About The Program

Who: Public schools with students between Kindergarten and twelfth grade in participating regions.

What: The CBS & EcoZone Green My School Contest is a contest that results in a green makeover valued at over $100,000 in products and services to a grand prize winning school in each participating region. In addition, all participating schools will be eligible for a sustainable environmental program within their region. Participants must submit all required entry materials by the deadline to be considered for the grand prize (see “Download the Entry Materials Now” to find materials for your region). Entries will be judged by a national committee comprised of EcoMedia’s Advisory Board, officials from each region and school district, non-profit participants, sponsors, and our local media partners.

Where: All schools within the San Francisco Unified School District, City of Miami public schools, and participating districts within the Chicago/Suburban Cook County region.

When: In Miami and San Francisco, the contest begins October 1, 2008 and ends December 10, 2008. In Chicago/Suburban Cook County, the contest begins November 6, 2008 and ends January 15, 2009. Grand prize winners will be announced January/February 2009. The green makeover will take place by the end of the 2008-2009 school year.

Why: The purpose of this initiative is to help create a model green school within each region.

Good luck!
